I said in my Friday post that I would tell you all about my upcoming Midsummer Night’s Feast with Beth Al-Rikabi, and here it is:
A Midsummer Night’s Feast
Date: 24th June (not strictly midsummer - true! - but St John the Baptist’s Day and the day midsummer was traditionally celebrated. Plus the nearest Saturday to actual midsummer…)
Time: 7pm
Venue: Campwell Woods, near Bath
Cost: £50 feast only
£100 feast and accommodation
£115 feast, accommodation and breakfast
I ran a supper club from my home for a few years with my friend and former editor of Gardens Illustrated Juliet Roberts, and it was so much fun. So many special sparkly times gathering people together in my kitchen by candlelight. Supper clubs always have a bit of magic about them; there is some kind of alchemy that happens when you throw like-minded people together in a beautiful setting with good food. I loved doing them.
I am delighted to be back in the game and throwing a Midsummer Night’s Feast with chef Beth Al-Rikabi. Beth is a wonderful chef, and I was so impressed with her beautiful seasonal food when I first met her that I drafted her in to develop and test recipes for The Almanac 2023, and then again for the upcoming 2024 edition. Together we will make a beautiful evening for you.
Here’s what Beth says: ‘We will be setting ourselves under the woodland canopy with sparkly lights, music and magic for three courses of seasonal, local and foraged foods cooked over the fire. I have hosted supper clubs here before and it’s a proper immersive experience, taking you away from that pesky ‘real world’ long enough for you to recharge.’
It will be a gorgeous way to spend one of the long, warm dusks of this special moment in the year, and to mark and celebrate midsummer. I hope you can join us!
Looks lovely but can't get to your area the
Gorgeous! Only wish I could.
