Or Dyad Moon, Strawberry Moon, or maybe even Daisy Moon?

June’s full moon - 4th June 4.42am*

*This is obviously very early in the morning. To view it at its fullest during normal evening hours look out tonight, the 3rd, but it will still look pretty full on the evening of the 4th.

June’s full moon has a couple of beautiful old Medieval names. The one that chimes most at the moment is Rose Moon, because well…there are so very many roses now blooming in midnight gardens that are going to be lit up by this full moon. I’ve also come across Dyad Moon. Dyad means a pair, or more strictly ‘something that consists of two elements or parts’ and I love the idea that this might be a nod to June being named after Juno, the goddess of marriage, and June being a month thought particularly favourable for weddings. Strawberry Moon is one you will see mentioned this week, and isn’t it atmospheric. It comes from the North American Algonquin tribe, who noticed that this full moon coincides with the brief wild strawberry season. And then there is the Daisy Moon of the above image. I have tried and failed to find a reference to the Daisy Moon, and can only assume that it is the artist being poetic, which of course artists will. I thought it matched the mood of the moment, anyway.
