Week 23
The new bench
Hello! I hope you have had a good week. This house has seen my son arrive back from uni and then go off again travelling with pals - a whirlwind of washing and the realisation that we are now four big adults living in a house that suddenly seems tiny and packed to the rafters with people, food, books, yes but mostly…drying washing. A summer of juggling lies before me but I have circumvented one issue by renting out a neighbour’s garden office a few days a week while I contemplate building one of my own. It has been incredible on the brain to be able to step out of the busy house and into this little oasis, and I thought you might like to see my new commute to work, via the back lane.
This is our weekly community post in which we chart the seasons in their minutiae week by week, looking out for the little things that mark out the changes in the year. I tell you mine and then you tell me yours, and at the end of the month I whip them all up into a poem of sorts, such as May’s, here.
Here’s mine:
A new bench
Sometimes it’s just nice to be reminded that humans really are alright. Someone put this picnic bench in the shady corner of the field I walk the dogs through for everyone else to enjoy over the summer. I hope it IS left there, and that everyone DOES get to enjoy. What a beautiful spot for it.
That’s it from me, now over to you. What have you seen/eaten/heard/spotted this week that felt particular to this moment in the year?
Answers in the comments please!

It looks like a bumper year for valerian, it's waving alongside many of the village walls in shades of pink and white.
a wonderful triple rainbow arching across the sky, it was so worth getting drenched on my evening walk home from the basket swing.
