Hello!
I hope you have had a beautiful week. Here there was a bit of rain - no really there was, because I was out in it, umbrella and all - but we are now sliding slightly stickily into our third heatwave of the summer. It’s hard here in the UK to feel bad about a sunny summer but…but…I know. A friend said to me the other day that we are in the ‘sweet spot’, and that is true, but of course sweet spots don’t last.
Anyway, doom and gloom about our beautiful summer apart…this is our weekly community post in which we share something that has felt particularly ‘this week’ about this week. I tell you mine first and then you tell me yours in the comments. Here’s mine:
It’s hotter than July…
This is an unusual one for me but I think this counts as seasonal, because going to outdoor concerts is very much a summer thing to do, and I would even go so far as saying it is VERY July, and I have slightly accidentally been to not one but two this week.
Last Saturday me and my daughter went to see the utterly delightful Sabrina Carpenter at Hyde Park in the rain, all long planned. And then yesterday morning I woke to a text from a friend: I have a spare ticket to Stevie Wonder in Cardiff tonight, would you like to come? Literally thought I was dreaming. And so we went, and we danced and grinned at each other and knew all the words to everything, because we once shared a flat in which we ate and breathed Songs in the Key of Life. And above all else there was actual Stevie Wonder, right there in front of us, sounding as fresh and sharp as 1976. The sun shone, and then set. The moon rose, low and fat. It was all just utterly glorious. My cheeks ache, my heart is full.
Actual Stevie Wonder, right there before my eyes
That’s it from me, now over to you: what have you eaten/spotted/sniffed/sung along to at the top of your lungs this week?

I think watering the garden every evening in the “ golden hour”, slowly, thoughtfully and mindfully is just about my most July thing at the moment. Enjoying every thriving plant in the borders, all the veg in the raised beds, the pots all blooming their socks off - I talk to them encouragingly and appreciatively! It’s such a gorgeous time of day after the heat.
Walking home and turning my head to see a huge, low full moon, perfectly aligned with the leafy street, between the trees just for a moment. Everyone else noticed and took pictures. It was so wholesome and life affirming, to see people getting excited by the moon!
