A break in the usual routine today to tell you about something new that I am very excited to be involved with, and that I hope will really appeal to the gardeners among you. Scribehound Gardening is a subscription website a little like Substack, except you pay one fee per month to receive columns from 30 different brilliant garden writers, one for each day of the month, among them Alan Titchmarsh, Sarah Raven, Mark Diacono, Chris Young, Arit Anderson, Ann-Marie Powell, Ben Dark, Joe Swift, Adam Frost and…well…me!
You all know me for my writing about the seasons from all sorts of angles but my roots are in garden writing - I wrote a gardening column for The Guardian for ten years and another for The Telegraph for several years after that - and I am really excited to have a home for my garden writing again.
The columnists will be writing about every aspect of gardening over there, there really will be something for everyone. My own plan is to keep my own offerings very almanacy. In my first column I am gardening by the moon in my own garden, and discussing recent evidence that has tipped me over into really wanting to give it a go. I’ll be giving you the moon gardening dates every month so that you can moon-garden along with me, and we will be sharing and trying out other garden folklore too. I would love it if you joined in, and if we could make my page as collaborative and chatty as this one is here.
Intrigued? If you fancy giving it a try there is a special opening offer in which you can read every column for the whole of November for £1.
