Definitely an epic and I felt that rollercoaster when I read it. It always feels strange to me when I look back on autumn, which I love so much, once winter starts to take over. Since reading the Almanac (I’m now on my fourth), listening to As the Season Turns and being part of this group I’ve realised how much I love winter too.
November has conjured images of spareness yet this hauntingly beautiful epic poem has shown me how rich and varied it has been for all of us. I cannot adequately tell you how much being a small part of this community has contributed to my experience of lives lived far from my locale. And as ever, thank you ,Lia, for your lovely weaving of the threads.
Ah, Lia. This is wonderful! It must take ages to curate! But what a fascinating peek through the window of November. Little snapshots from here and there - poignant, amusing, thought provoking, familiar. Heart warming. Thank you.
I’ve never really liked November, I find it really dreary, but reading this I think I actually do! It feels really magical this month, there’s a real feeling of hope and resilience. I love this so much.
I read this aloud to myself and enjoyed it greatly. It has been a tough old month but so much beauty in it. I particularly liked the starlings and skeins of geese. The cold is really creeping in throughout. Thanks Lia for weaving it all together!
Thankyou Lia, for so beautifully weaving all of the little poems into the epic. Dozens of personal experiences threaded together, showing how interconnected we all are. And Ffern tomorrow. Yippee!
There is life !!! So heartened by the sharing & gathering of minutiae keep the home fires burning & those reflections cheer a damp morning before striding out into the wilds 🙏🌀🔥

Wow so many wonderful autumn experiences. We are so lucky that we have the peace and freedom to enjoy nature in the company of family and friends.

What a powerful poem of human resilience, letting go and the peace that comes with accepting the changing season.
