I was just reading Katherine May's chapter on meteors showers in her latest so this was delightfully relevant - one of those things like seeing a kingfisher that never wears off
Hi Lia. I'm in Perth, Western Australia, and I just heard about the solar eclipse on the 20th. Apparently it's the first of its kind since 1974. Here in Perth it will be quite noticeable late morning but up north in the Ningaloo reef area it will be totally dark for a few seconds.
The reason the Orthodox Christian churches often celebrate Easter (called Pascha) on a different date is that we use an older inaccurate method of calculating when the vernal equinox will be. So we still celebrate on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox, but we differ on when the vernal equinox happens. Fun with calendars!
So glad you’re back. I did know this about Easter because sometimes it falls on my birthday so I’m always checking when it is each year!
Ah how lovely, happy birthday season! x

Yes! Magic if you can catch them. I must get myself a copy of that, it looks great.
Me too! I just finished the part in Enchantment where they go to see the lyrids 😊
Ah fab

Ah wow, yes it looks like totality is going to be seen by a whole load of fishes and not a huge number of humans.

Oh fascinating! Thank you. I will have to look into that won’t I.
I have a very much too thorough link about it all ready and queued up to send folks who ask. 😆
Yes please!
