Celebrating the light dragonflies damsel flies and water lilies -watching films curated by the stone club @thestoneclub courtesy of the watershed Bristol so … creating memories of the light fantastic we experience at this point of the year as you so beautifully curated for us … with outstanding performance by citrus fruit 👏
Don’t be lonely; we all love what you do for us and appreciate it greatly. I’d love to join your midsummer feast, but we are in the States. Celebrating with you in spirit: I’ll be teaching a workshop on Saturday called Book Arts 101: Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Jaffe Center for Book Arts at Florida Atlantic University Libraries, then heading home for a Midsommar feast—a special carried-out affair from our local Swedish restaurant.
If any of your readers would care to join me on St. John’s Eve (I’d invite you, Lia, but I think you’ll be at your midsummer celebration), I’ll be hosting a midsummer version of a weekly online letter writing social from 2 to 5 PM Eastern Daylight Time (I’m pretty sure that’s 20:00 to 23:00 in the UK) called Real Mail Fridays: Midsummer Social on Friday. It’s on Zoom. There’s a link to be found at jaffecollection.org .
Happy Midsummer to you and all your readers. The Almanac is one of my favorite things!
I think Orpine is Hylotelephium telephium (what we used to call Sedum telephium). Not sure how good it would be as a decoration, though, since it's a fleshy succulent!
I agree. I always love the idea of mid summer but it can be quite exhausting. There is a definite feeling of relief that we are over the hump back on the descent to cosier seasons. Ps this video is a perfect example of a quiet moment. Thank you :)
I loved this, thank you! There’s something about midsummer’s day that makes me feel a little sad, that the days will start shortening again. But much to savour and enjoy in this moment too.
Really interesting, thank you! I agree about sometimes finding this time of year a bit full on, and needing to find a quiet corner. x
Yes that’s very much me…

What wonderful plans. Your ‘book of days’ looks fascinating. Will be diving in!
Oh, thank you. I'd be honored if you did!
Thank you x

Thanks Lia, I really enjoyed hearing this, and being reminded of just how special this luminous moment in the year is!
Thank you!
