First brunch of the year outside - basking in the sunshine! We were at West Dean and the South Downs never looked more beautiful- big woolly South Downs sheep grazing contentedly. Then a gorgeous walk in the dappled sunlit woods, birdsong ringing, foraging 2 big pocketfuls of wild garlic leaves. Made wild garlic pesto when we got home. Enjoying the delicious green scent of my new Ffern perfume with a faint violet echo. Wonderful blackthorn picture Lia!
Laundering everything in sight so my line is a rainbow mix of billowing brights & whites while the sounds of all the gardens across the neighbourhood being tended & birdsong till late provide the soundtrack to the day - spring has never felt more needed
A very simple but lovely cup of tea in the garden after work. Honestly felt so uplifted at the prospect of longer lighter days after this forever winter.
Clear bright starry skies at night, blue all day, outside without a coat - but feeling the contrast in the shady spots where the overnight frosts lingered.
Finally wearing a t-shirt, feeling the sun on my bare arms, on the most beautiful spring equinox day. I love London when the sun is out, the air is full of music and laughter, the colours are bright and people are smiling more.
I went on a magical equinox pilgrimage across the city where I discovered the hidden history of the city and performed rituals in its sacred places-I had no idea these secrets existed. I now see my city in a whole new light...
I walked the old railway path at morning, noon and dusk - it was pastels and glitter in the morning, bright sunshine as I pounded the tarmac at lunchtime, and star-studded not-quite-full dark at 8pm. Shakshuka with spring vegetables for my ostara dinner!
The chiffchaffs have arrived. The trees are just bare enough to be able to spot them. Another week or so and it will be their song that tells us they’re here, spotting them will be harder.
On the hillside leading up to Ralph Vaughan Williams old house, a soundscape - chiffchaff, cronking ravens, robins, blackbirds, blackcaps, and a frog chorus.
Coaxing the garden back to life with gentle weeding and planting, bathed in buttery, warm sunshine. The dandelions have popped out this week, and I'm needing all my willpower to leave them for the bees. What a balm to lean finally into the light half of the year.
Thermal wellies have been stuffed in the back of the shoe cupboard - please nameless deities can I not need them again until October at the earliest 🙏.
Lime green early leaves sprouting on trees - what a joyful colour.
Lessons on the field of my country school - bliss! And so freeing for the kids able to do outdoor activities at lunchtime!

An ice cream on the seafront, my little one hatless

I love old railway paths Sarah. Xx
I thought the frogs had gone quiet and there was already a lot of frogspawn, but they were having a massive party in the sunshine yesterday.
the wood doves are in a flurry of desire
and a robin, small ball of feathers on tiny legs, is bursting with song as we take our walk
oh the beauty and fragility of life!
Looking for the SPF 50 before going out to inspect the weeds

Picking armfuls of spinach from the greenhouse and giving them to friends
