Hello!
I hope you have had a good week. Me, well I have finally limped over the finish line on The Almanac 2025! It is sent, and in the capable hands of my publishers, and I am breathing a huge sigh of relief. It was an amazing and exhausting one to write and I hope that you will love it when it emerges from the publishing process. It now goes into editing, is sent to our fabulous new illustrator for inspiration, goes to design, then proofreading, and after many many questions and answers, tweaks and fiddles it will emerge butterfly-like at the beginning of September. But the bulk of my work is done, and it always feels wonderful to have another one in the bag. 2025 will happen!
Thank you all for such a gorgeous reaction to the Big Beautiful March Poem. It seems like this way of doing things really works and we will stick to it for now, which is:
This is our weekly community post in which I write about something that I have done/seen/made/smelt/noticed this week that was particular to this week, and then you do the same in the comments. At the end of April I will combine them all into a big beautiful April poem, of sorts.
Here’s mine:
The Easter table
If you were on chat on Sunday you have already seen this pic - sorry! - but I love an Easter table and specifically I love mine. Chocolate bunnies, pink tablecloth, hot cross buns, coffee, daffodils, check check check. I did do Easter properly for everyone this year, breakfast and lunch, after feeling quite like I hadn’t really done anything properly for the last three months, and it felt really nice, inviting people in, creating something, celebrating the season, though also exhausting, and also made me think maybe I am a little bit of a person like Tracy after all…
That’s it from me! Please leave your comments below. What have you noticed/done/spotted/eaten this week that felt particular to this week? Everyone is welcome, no matter where you are and what your season is currently doing. I can’t wait to hear.
Baby foxes, who look like tiny fluffy teddy bears, shyly emerging from ivy undergrowth
I couldn’t work out why the extractor fan was making so much of a clattering noise where the vent was - I finally braved the rain - and it had two blue tits in it. Probably scoping for a nest (no eggs in there thankfully) but I gently encouraged them out - as much as I love nature I don’t really want chicks in the cooker hood. And they would have had very hot bottoms!
