Hello! Another glorious week here - are we getting a bit casual about all of this gorgeous weather now? Yeah, it’s summer, it’s sunny every day, we eat outdoors…what of it? Sigh…guess I’ll just wear a summer dress and sandals in July, as nature intended. Raincoat and wellies? I don’t know them.
This is our community post in which we track the minutiae of the seasons week by week. It’s all very simple: I tell you something I have noticed that feels very particular to this week of the year, and then you tell me yours. At the end of the month I weave them all into one big monthly poem. It makes us all happy.
Here’s mine:
Greenberries
I will be honest, I have actually been ignoring these for a couple of weeks. I literally couldn’t bring myself to post blackberries in JUNE. Everything is so early, and I know here in Bristol we are often much earlier than elsewhere, so I don’t want to skew the stats, but are you noticing blackberries too? Cards on table I have deliberately walked past some with *purple* berries this very morning, averting my eyes, phone clamped in my pocket.
That’s it for me except to say that this Sunday will be the first Sunday of the month and so it is time to line up your ‘Usual Spot’ pics for the chat (for the uninitiated, we take a picture of the same spot every month and share them in ‘chat’ to see how they change, and you can still start even now).
Now over to you. What have you noticed/done/eaten/etc…this week that felt particularly seasonal, and like it could only happen this week of the year?
Up in Ayrshire it's turned cool with sunny spells and heavy showers.
A magical close encounter with a young deer by the work pond yesterday.
A riot of colourful wild flowers in the middle of the village roundabout makes me smile.
20 days till we move to a place with a garden. I'm beyond excited to get started making it wildlife friendly!
The lavender is glowing and thrilling the bees. My lawn crunches under foot currently - and could do with a little of the wet stuff.
