Being awoken by early sunshine and birdsong, reluctantly wrestling myself from my warm sleeping bag on a frosty wild camping morning. "Let's get the kettle on".
A female blackbird going to and fro building a nest somewhere, resting on the fence with a beak full of twigs. A sparrow perched on the windowsill, skittering off when I try to have a closer look.
The dunnocks have been strangely absent from the garden for the past month but have retrun3d with fierce spring energy, singing from high branches and I noticed a pair checking out our hedge for a possible nest site. The town roundabouts and verges are a mass of brightly coloured crocuses and celandines, and my dog walk at 6pm has been in the light.
Maple sap dripping noisily into the metal buckets as we finished tapping our trees. If spring has a sound beyond raindrops and birdsong, it’s plopping drops of sap.
All about the birdsong here in the Cairngorms! The squeaky sound of lapwings flying above the marshy fields... and my first song thrush of the year singing.
going out with my collie dog to the meadows along the river and to the old church . she had such Joy as she sniffed all the scents of spring and waded in the river
Dave sent me a photo of the crocuses coming up in St Andrews Park. I hope they are still around when I get out of hospital. Another pic was same crocus plant with our dog weeing on it. Naughty Evie!
One other thing I noticed was the length of the grass!
Road testing the caravan this week and being treated to some magnificent sunrises, including a brief snow storm. We often hear an owl in the garden and tonight we spotted it!

Our current breeding pair Leonard and Penny have been making more appearances at our kitchen door in the last week or two

the pond was heaving and suddenly there are three enormous mounds of frogspawn! Hooray!
and in the flower bed behind, the first star splash of yellow, in what will be a carpet of celandines
and then I saw the first glimpse of silver on the pussy willows
a real spring hat trick!
Oo need to go check my pond now!
let me know!?
The clear blue days and the bright, beautiful sun lighting up the dirty panes and dusty shelves. Better go outside and leave the cleaning.
Yes!
A small murmuration of Avocets flashing silver against blue sky over the Severn Estuary.
Made a blood orange and pistachio cake for friends coming round for a meal. They had to cancel, so sadly we had to eat it all ourselves… 😄
Cuppas in the garden, warmed by the sun. The gentle peace that settles as you feel the light half of the year stretching ahead.
yes, I can feel my shoulders drop and a big exhale reading that, thank you.

Busy birds in the garden scoping out a nesting spot.
A butterfly flew past the kitchen window and I had to double take!
Tete a tete in the window box. Bright joy against the grey skies.
The skies have been beautiful day and night - the line up of planets really was breathtaking even though I didn't spot them all.

her first long walk after her mini stroke

Hope you’re able to leave soon enough to catch the crocuses.
I am, in fact, just home. I’ll wander over to the Park tomorrow morning 😊

wow!
The sun just managing to peek through the mist in the woods this morning was eerily beautiful.
Sitting outside with a cup of tea and no coat on. Bliss.
