Thoughts on...Lammas and Lughnasa

A little film of me talking about entering the harvest phase of the year
32

Hello!

We are coming up to Lammas and Lughnasa, on the 1st August, the first harvest festival of the year. This is the latest in my filmed series of chats about these special moments in the year - the traditional celebrations that fall on the solstices, equinoxes and on the cross-quarter festivals that fall between them.

Lia’s Living Almanac is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

So far I have covered Samhain, Midwinter, Imbolc, May Day/Beltane and Midsummer, and they are all available for you to pop back and look at them if you missed them at the time.

Much of the info in these talks has been gleaned over my years of writing The Almanac, and the 2024 edition is out at the end of the month. It’s a beauty, though I say so myself, and you will do me a huge favour if you pre-order it via Waterstones, Blackwells, or Amazon or of course best of all via your local independent book shop.

Anyway, Lammas is a magical one, the first harvest festival and the first real recognition that we are into the waning and gathering in part of summer. Do get yourself a cup of tea and sit down with me to mark this very special moment.
