Hello! Midsummer is almost upon us, with the moment of the summer solstice falling at 3.57pm on the 21st June. I have made a short film about what it means to reach this pinnacle of the year, about how it was traditionally celebrated (oddly VERY differently to how we all imagine it was), and some thoughts on what it can mean to us now.
This is a part of my series on the big festive markers of the year, the solstices, the equinoxes and the ‘cross-quarter days’ in between - and I have previously made them on Samhain, Midwinter, Imbolc and Beltane so do go back and have a listen to those if you fancy. Between this one and the last I have purchased a much better microphone! So the sound quality is loads better than you are used to. Thanks to those of you who struggled on with the old muffly ones and I hope you enjoy the new clarity.
If you enjoy this film do please like and share, and leave me a comment too: what are your midsummer plans?
P.S. I will be celebrating in the twinkly woods this weekend at our Midsummer Night’s Feast where there are just TWO tickets left, which we would love to sell. Do snap them up (if you are a group of more than two we can probably all shuffle up a bit too, so do enquire).
Really interesting, thank you! I agree about sometimes finding this time of year a bit full on, and needing to find a quiet corner. x
