A special moment watching the big orangey Hunter's 'Supermoon' rise from Mousehole in Cornwall over the sea. Instant regrets for missing out on a ticket to enjoy it getting chilly in the Jubilee Pool's Full Moon dip, and too bright to see the comet. Suddenly gone! A bat (pipistrelle?) started fluttering over our heads. A moment to completely savour rather than try and capture on camera. Then a quick trot up the hill to the holiday cottage for baked potato and fresh crab salad for tea.
The magnificent Hunters Moon shining in the windows when I get up in the night - moonlight is so beautiful! Knitting and crafting little pumpkins an a range of Autumn colours and stitches - I’ll post a picture on Sunday! There’s a clever, easy one with thick chenille yarn and toilet roll middles- I’ll be gifting them as little Autumn decorations to friends far and wide. A delicious warm salad of roasted squash, Brussels sprouts and maple toasted walnuts sprinkled with goats cheese- yummy.
Finally seeing Comet Tsusinchan Atlas after incessant cloudy nights, even if it was through binoculars rather than by eye, seeing that tail got me very excited!
Sitting under the hunter’s moon with my little hunter (the cat) snuggling up to me
The first fog! I always wonder how it arrives, because the air was so mild, calm and clear before, no sign of any mist, but then in the morning it has arrived and all is grey and dripping…
We've had some proper Camelot days full of golden low-angled sun followed by extremely rainy nights - almost all the outdoor bulbs are in, well-watered, we've bought a new doormat because the old one was choked with mud. Caught the full moon through glass in the early hours today, always a heart-lifting sight.
I loved TH White’s Once and Future King as a child, and there’s a bit in that about how perfect Camelot was because it only rained after dark, and that became part of the song from the Camelot musical (so I tend to hear it now in Richard Harris’s singing voice, which is even nicer!) - https://youtu.be/Os-jJuwgNkA?feature=shared
Lots of rain here too, then rainbows in the sun. Clearing some of the summer bedding and planting bulbs in hope of spring colour. University visits rumble on, and a sudden return of covid, hoping my daughter doesn’t pass it on!
Waking to the comforting blanket of mist enveloping the garden; marvelling at the beauty of the super moon; cups of tea in the garden soaking up the warm autumn sun to the sound of the excited chatter of the birds; being stopped in my tracks by the glorious blazing Acer tree, only a day or two left before the leaves depart their branches to fall to the ground 🍂
This week we had a storm that produced olive size hail..pouring rain..thunder and lightening and winds! I've spent the day preparing vegetable pot pies with roasted veg. And apple cranberry pies. It's my youngest daughters birthday and she always requests "pie aand pie" as she puts it. Definitely fall( and the cranberries make me think winter!) Snohomish, Washington
More than 100 grey seals hauled out on the beach in a Cornish cove as we hit peak pupping season.
The first foggy start of the season today following late- night blanket-clad time spent in the garden gazing up at the full moon.

Gosh that sounds delicious
Looking forward to your crafty photo! Hope you are feeling OK
Yes better and better each day - thank you Cathryn!
Blustery wind helping the birch trees part ways with their catkins and dainty leaves 🍂 it is an excited, swirling goodbye. 🍂
Turning over the mud in my garden bed, and accidentally spearing a potato with every other forkful!

Camelot days! What a beautiful phrase. I hadn’t heard it before.

An evening neighbourhood walk in the company of the Hunter's moon. The garden is sighing, and gently folding in on itself.
Love that phrase Wendy! Describes it perfectly!
Last night’s soft pink and blue sky, then the super moon and this morning’s silent mist
Lovely entry with a GORGEOUS photo! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you!
Beautiful moon just before sunrise this morning.
I have already bought myself your 2025 Almanac, as I do every year. Love it.
Really enjoying your posts, thank you 💕
Thank you! Sorry i missed this earlier
Incredible mushrooms in the traditional Munich food market and beautiful colours in the English Garden park.

Eek!
Hope she’s ok and you avoid it Cathryn x
Thanks, she’s feeling very sorry for herself but is on the mend. Luckily I seem to have dodged it!
Very happy to hear that!

I think pie and pie adds up to a very good birthday!
It does..doesn't it!🥰
